Tara M. Viechnicki, M.D.

Tara M. Viechnicki, MD, is a Comprehensive, Board Certified Ophthalmologist experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of eye disease. She is particularly interested in the diagnosis and treatment of eye disease, specifically cataracts, glaucoma and dry eye disease.

Dr. Viechnicki grew up in Bethlehem, PA. She graduated Cum Laude from Wellesley College, where she attained a BA in Biological Science. After graduation, Dr. Viechnicki went to Drexel University- Hahnemann School of Medicine where she received her Doctor of Medicine. She completed her medical internship at Chestnut Hill Hospital in Philadelphia, PA and in 2003 her Residency in Ophthalmology from New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.

Since completing her residency, Dr. Viechnicki has been a practicing ophthalmologist. After graduation, she worked for five years in a General Ophthalmology Practice in Charleston, SC. She focused her career on cataract surgery, management of eye trauma, medical and laser treatments for glaucoma and cosmetic eye treatments including Botox and facial fillers.
In 2008,  Dr. Viechnicki followed her husband to his medical residency with the U.S. Navy and took a new position in Chesapeake, VA . In that position she focused on premium intraocular lens implants and the surgical management of astigmatism.

She joined Morris Eye Group in 2011 . In 2020 her husband, Lieutenant Commander Miguel Gutierrez, M.D., US Navy, was stationed in Okinawa Japan; she and her three children joined him for his deployment. Dr. Viechnicki re-joined Morris Eye Group in 2023 upon their return to the States.

​Dr. Viechnicki is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and has conducted numerous clinical research studies in ophthalmology throughout her career.  She prides herself on being a caring doctor, always placing her patients’ interests first, and dedicating all her resources to providing patients with the best in medical eye care.
