Contact Lenses

See clearly with Morris Eye GroupContact lenses correct common vision problems such as nearsightedness and farsightedness in a similar mechanism as eyeglasses, but the contact lenses, which can be soft, hard or disposable, sit directly on the eye. Some patients prefer contact lenses over eyeglasses due to increased field of vision or for aesthetic reasons.

Active people may benefit from contact lenses as an alternative to eyeglasses. People of all ages may find contact lenses provide the entire field of vision, a necessity on the sports field or court, while others may benefit from increased self confidence with contacts as opposed to eyeglasses.

While contact lenses come with great benefits, they also come with great responsibility. In order to maintain the highest level of eye health and to achieve the greatest benefit from contacts, it is crucial for contact lens wearers to be extremely responsible individuals with exceptional hygienic habits.

During a comprehensive eye exam at Morris Eye Group, a knowledgeable optician will explain how contact lenses may improve your vision. Morris Eye Group offers many different types of contacts to provide the optimal vision and eye health. While soft contacts may be the best vision option for some patients, rigid gas permeable may be the best corrective option for patients with certain astigmatisms or corneal shapes. You and your doctor will decide what is best for you.

The doctors at Morris Eye group recommend wearing contact lenses no more than 8-10 hours a day. When the patient removes the contacts, the contact lenses should be placed inside a clean case with proper cleaning solution. The solution inside the case should be changed daily and the case itself should be cleaned daily as well. After 90 days, we also recommend replacing the case for proper hygiene. Every lens varies from daily throw-away wear to quarterly replacement. You and your doctor will decide which lens and brands are best for you.

For first time contact lens wearers, we offer a contact lens education consultation. Once the patient has been fit for contact lens trials, our skilled optimistic assistant will sit with you and go over the wear and care of contact lenses. We will also give proper instruction on how to insert and remove the contact lenses.
